AASE Smith Syndrome I

AASE Smith Syndrome I is a type of birth defect. It is a genetically passed condition effecting one of the 22 non sex chromosomes.

 
 

Characteristics  of AASE Smith Syndrome I

  • Hydrocephalus (a condition marked by an excessive accumulation of fluid within the brain)

  • Cleft palate (condition in which the lip, or the lip and palate (roof of the mouth), do not grow together)

  • Severe joint malformation

  • Deformed ears

  • Drooping eyelids

  • Inability to open the mouth fully

  • Heart defects
