Achard-Thiers Syndrome

Achard-Thiers syndrome a hormonal disorder seen in women after menopause who have diabetes. The syndrome causes growth of body hair in a male pattern.

Achard-Thiers syndrome affects mostly postmenopausal women and comprises type II diabeties, deep voice, hirsutism (Excessive hair growth on body parts)   clitoral hypertrophy (enlargement of the clitoris) and admoral enlargement of the adrenal glands. Patients often also have absence of menstruation, hypertension and osteoporosis.
