Paralysis is a weakening or loss of the use of a muscle, group of muscles or of all voluntary muscles. The majority of the time while the paralysis is experienced in the muscles the cause in in the nerves that send the messages to the muscle telling it what to do. This interruption in the signal can be caused by a disease that effects the way the message is sent to the muscle. It can also be because of damage to the nerves that service on area of the body. A third cause of muscle paralysis is damage done in the brain by either disease, trauma or stroke. |
