Hip stress fracture

A hip fracture is a fracture in the top of the femur (large upper leg bone). There are three places this happens as seen in the picture.

While most hip fractures are caused by accidents, most hip stress fractures are cause by fatigue of the thigh and hip muscles when running or climbing.
