Radius Fracture

Radius Fracture

The radius is the smaller of the two bones on the thumb side of the forearm. While a fracture can happen any where on the bone, most radius fractures happen at the ends of the bone.

A Distal Radius Fracture is a break or crack that is almost always within an inch of the wrist joint, and may extend into the joint. This type of fracture is also called a Colles Fracture.

Radius Head Fracture is a break or crack that is at the radial head which is located at the elbow.

Causes of Radius Fractures

Most radius fractures are caused when you are using you hand to try and break a forward fall.
