Fifth Metatarsal Fracture

Complete list of fracture information

Fifth Metatarsal Fracture

A Fifth Metatarsal Fracture is a fracture of the fifth metatarsal of the foot. The fifth metatarsal is at the base of the small toe.

A Fifth Metatarsal Fracture is the most common of the foot type of fracture of the metatarsals. The outside metatarsals are more likely to fracture because this is where stress is the greatest and where impact is most likely to happen. The fifth metatarsal is smaller than the first and the out side of the foot is more likely to receive impact making it more prone to fracture.
