What is polyarthritis - ?

According to our G.P. my husband has got this polyarthritis. he is on opuim based painkillers and at a high level and is still in alot of pain. We have had many blood tests to find out what sort but to no avail. Pain is all over and requires a stick to aid walking. He has been like this for the last 6-7 years and we are still no further on with this than we were at then. We want to find out exactly what sort it is, at least then he can understand why he is in so much pain all the time.

somedude 		Polyarthritis is not a type of arthritis but rather a description of arthritis. It means that the arthritis affects more than one joint and is usually used to refer to it as affecting many joints.

Some forms of arthritis can be hard to diagnose. It is way past time to see a specialist for this. Ask your GP for a referral to a rheumatologist.
